‘It is what it is..’ seeks to examine society’s capacity to continue with the human endeavour in the face of a global pandemic. Whilst much is taken away, I was interested in the human capacity to adapt and to prosper. The work uses street photographic practices to document my personal observations of life under restriction. Despite minimal opportunity to leave home, there is still a longing for connection, normality and daily rituals. There is extraordinary in the ordinary which is emphasised with the use of humour, and relatability. Whilst there is much grief in the pandemic, the capacity to slow down, simplify life and appreciate the simple pleasures prevails.
